Giving Gourmet Coffee Gifts to a cultivated coffee connoisseur could pose a great challenge to some. But if you too are a coffee lover, you would know how and where to look for great gourmet coffee beans for that perfect gourmet coffee gift basket. How one develops a preference for a particular type of coffee amongst the thousands of variety depends on a very personal palate. With the countless types of coffees to choose from, it is no wonder that we do not know where to start, what with the many forms of secret formulas in roasting, preparation, flavoring that roasters keep so quiet about. Hence we make do with our friendly neighborhood coffee brew. This is how I developed my personal preference and taste while in search for that gourmet coffee bean.

So I was really in luck when I made a trip to Hawaii a decade ago and woke up to the wonderful aromatic brew which overwhelmed and tantalized my senses to the tilt, when I was introduced to my first cup of Hawaiian Kona Coffee, a true coffee connoisseur’s delicacy. It has an aroma that is full, sweet, and mellow with a full-bodied flavor. Since then, I got hooked on the Hawaiian Kona Coffee Beans amongst a few other premium gourmet blends.

Authentic Kona Coffee Beans Originated Along the Slopes Of Mount Hualalai And Mauna Loa

Kona Coffee Beans was introduced to the island in the nineteenth century with Brazilian origin. They are exclusively grown on Mount Hualalai and Mauna Loa, within the Kona Districts, give it its name. Hence, only the home grown kona coffee beans could legitimately claim the name. There are, however, certain blends which mix the beans with others from Brazil, Colombian or Arabica in varying percentages and are not true to their claims as 100% authentic. It is advisable to check out the labels before you make your purchase.

Differentiating The Various Types of Kona Coffee Beans

What make Kona coffee beans thrive above all its coffee counterparts are its special weather requirements of morning sun, afternoon rain and mild evenings which are god given conditions of the Mount Hualalai and Mauna Loa. The end product of this great weather conditions are the Type one and Type 2 beans, with the former slightly lower grades of kona fancy, extra fancy, kona prime and kona number one. The latter, which is most popularly known as peaberry range, comes in both peaberry prime and peaberry number one. These are my favorite choices.

So if you are running out of ideas on gifts, try putting together a sampler gourmet coffee gift basket with the variety of Kona Coffee Beans and you can never go wrong, especially when the gourmet coffee gifts are meant for a fellow coffee connoisseur.
